Plums

August's best: Plums

Green to purple, sweet to tantalisingly tart, the perky plum comes in several guises that taste every bit as good as they look. August is the time to get gorging on fine seasonal plums.

Our quick and tasty tip:

  • Try making a spiced plum compote with five spice, port, vinegar, cinnamon and orange juice and zest. Delicious served with roast pork.
